RichardLangThanks Paul. I’m a very high handicapper trying to learn your swing. I’m teeing up the ball but need help on something else. Main fault seems to be pulling back/up on the downswing. Any good drill for curing that?

Paul WilsonRichard,
We have all gone through this. I have a bunch of tips on it here:
Are You Practicing Looking Early?: https://ignitiongolf.com/practice-looking-early/
Topping: https://ignitiongolf.com/stop-topping-golf-ball/
Topping: Watch for the Blur: https://ignitiongolf.com/watch-for-the-blur/
Spine Angle Follow Through: https://ignitiongolf.com/follow-through-eyes-tilted/
Good Habits Series – Topping or Thin Shots: https://ignitiongolf.com/good-habits-topping/
Look For This Clue: https://ignitiongolf.com/thin-topped-clues/
Stop Thin and Topped Shots: https://ignitiongolf.com/stop-thin-and-topped/
At your level you need to be working on the swing positions and building a great swing. The best way to do this is in practice swings. Get the swing then add the ball.
You can find the lessons here:

rodbeuthinThanks for the tip Paul. I spend most of practise hitting off mats. Should I still tee it up or does the mat have some forgiveness in it. Enjoying the journey towards playing poweless arms golf and love the feeling when it seems so effortless and the ball goes straight and far.

Paul WilsonRod,
If you are working on swing positions you need to tee it up regardless of whether it is on mats or not. If you don’t you may be bouncing it off the mat which would actually be fat shots on grass so this might not be allowing you to do what you are trying to do.
Hopefully, you can tee it up (use broken tees) on the mats you have.
Glad you like the instruction. I appreciate it. Great feeling when you get it.
