In this tip I am talking about an image that I give most students, try to think about the release like saloon doors. When somebody walks through the doors they hinge and then they spring back in the other direction because they are re-hinging. If you think about your wrists like this then you will see the image of if your wrists are first hinging then they need to re-hinge. Keep having this image in your head the next time you go out and practice and you will be feeling the same way and picture going through the old western saloon doors.

TomCPaul, Thanks for all the thorough and easy to understand instruction you provide. This past weekend I shot a personal best 72, with 3 Birdies; 12 Pars; and 3 Bogies. Applying your coaching I hit 13 greens in regulation and my irons were flying straight at the flag. It was a round to remember.
When I started with your site I was a 16 handicap and 3 1/2 years later I now bounce between a 9 and 10 handicap. Anyone who is serious about improving their game can have the same success as I have had. That said, you must practice Paul’s techniques. I have and it has paid off. Your swing will not improve by osmosis. Put in the time and you will be loving this game!

JohnBensonThat’s awesome Tom C!
I’ve just started my third year of playing and having Paul as my coach online. I had my first 5 par greens in regulation and 2 putted for par yesterday. The hole was 450 yards and I hit my driver 200 for one of the first few times!
I could I’ve never done that my first two years, it’s so great to see improvement from practicing his technique… Thanks for sharing!

silica2202I’ve found that the release mimics an underhand throwing motion, which has worked for me in conceptualizing the release. What are the pitfalls of using this image for release?

Paul WilsonSilica,
Nothing. You release your hand when throwing a ball you don’t keep it locked up. If so, this would be a good image and if it works then keep doing it.
