  1. Very good reminder ,Paul,of the two basic moves to get an efficient swing .
I work on both as you recommend ..Going back to the ancient book of JIMMY BALLARD ,I was reminded of the importance of FULLY turning the upper body behind the ball at the top of the swing .Not only working on this specific issue has forced me to better “pause “at the top of the backswing ,it has also given me more torque to power the swing .
As a senior myself (84) ,I Watch very carefully the SENIOR TOUR events and how these old glories (SCOTT Mc CARRON, PAUL BROADHURST and others ) still play a fine golf game :I am impressed with the speed with which they still manage to turn their hips in the downswing and the distance they send the ball ..A powerfull core is a big asset!

  2. I find that working on the hinge has really helped my game. After each swing I check myself out and see if I’ve got the club between the ears. It seems like this naturally gets me uncoiling properly as well. If I push it then I know I need to put more emphasis on avoiding the slide and rotate more. If I pull or pull hook then I work on getting my hips started first more and relax my arms again. It’s a constant battle mentally but the results are coming along nicely.

When uncoiling my lower body should I keep my back to the target and let them get pulled around by the hips? In your videos it seems that your left shoulder moves forward and around as you uncoil from the lower body.

That would be a great way to try to get some separation in your golf swing. If you start to think about using your shoulders then you would not be thinking about your lower body to hit the golf ball. Keep thinking about using your lower body to hit the ball and not how the shoulders work in the downswing.
