Paul Second request. Should I buy a driver from a demo day or go to a club maker and get a custom fit driver? Thanks!
I answered this earlier here:
I would go to a demo day find something you like the look and feel of. Once you find it you then get fitted for it. Unless of course you find the magical club at the demo day then you see if they will sell it to you.
Thanks Paul. But how about a club maker making one for me based on his testing?
If there isn’t a demo day you should be going to a professional clubfitter (preferably with a Trackman) so you can be properly fitted. Start searching in your area for someone who has this machine. Then you will get the right club. If there is a demo day you can try a bunch of them before you buy it. Then you can find the look and feel you like. You get fitted so you have the right length and shaft for your swing.
Just had to tell you about my ah-ha moment. Have always had trouble with the loose wrists, generally being too tight and forcing it. Last week while watching women’s golf, I noticed Kristy Kerr taking to her right hand thumb off the club as if checking to make sure the right hand grip was light. I have always complained that I don’t really feel the club head during the swing. So out to the range I went, and started the roll-over drill without pinching the club with my right thumb and what a difference. Did I hit everyone great? No, but everyone was straight or to my left, not slicing right. I have felt loose arms, but changing that pressure from my right thumb makes a ton of difference. I know that if I had made it to your school, you would have picked up on this immediately but it took me a while to get to the cause. Thanks for this tip, it was what got me on the right track!

Glad you go the feeling. Take it anyway you can get it. I think the main problem is people just don’t want to give up on what they have always done because of the fear of hitting a bad shot. I did a tip on this a little while back. Not sure if you say it.

I am a taichi practitioner where it emphasises using whole body movement and everything is connected. But when I started using the whole body motion I started moving my body too much side ways and upwards and downwards and started missing shots Don’t we lose the accuracy if we let the body dictate our movements? One of the other website where I subscribed ( rotaryswing) was mentioning that we use a ball throwing motion of right hand during downswing instead of turning hips. What is your take on this?

You don’t lose accuracy if you doing it right. If you are doing it right you gain incredible consistency because you are basing your swing on torque and forces which repeat 100% of the time in life.
You are coiling and uncoiling your body. You are allowing your wrists to hinge and re-hinge.
If you are losing consistently I would think you are not doing these things correctly and/or you are doing them way too hard.
If you are trying to throw something with your right hand you are moving the mass which leads to manipulating it. How are you going to square the face consistently if you are trying to hit the ball? Why not use physics and allow the forces to act on the mass? A loose hinge in life hinges and it re-hinges 100% of the time. Connect this to a center that is coiling like a spring and uncoiling and you get an incredibly consistent golf swing.
I guarantee that if you threw a punch in martial arts you are not doing so with just your arm. You would throw a punch with your legs and hips. You throw a ball with your legs and hips. You do any sport with your legs and hips. Golf is no exception. To gain consistency you are coiling your shoulders until you feel a tight coil. This tells you that you coiled up and have torque. Once you feel this you uncoil with the lower body. As you do this your arms should be powerless and wrists loose. The club follows your body rotation (this is proven fact in every good players golf swing). This means the axis (your body is rotating) and the mass (club) is following. In physics this will work 100% of the time (weight on string). If you are hitting with your right arm you are moving the string and weight when you do not have to.
Now if you are not good at doing this these you need to work on the pieces. This means that at certain point example: top of the backswing, release, follow through etc, you may purposely feel your arms setting position for a while. Once you are good at these things you turn them off.

Not sure if you are still following RS. If so, you need to pick one method and stick with it. Conflicting information is only going to leave you confused. My method works amazingly well if you follow it precisely. If you are following it then be sure to do each position right and you will hit the ball better than you ever have in your life.

Thanks for the reply. After practicing the coiling and uncoiling with one check on top of back swing ( tightening of left side of chest) swing got better. It really works!. From RS tips there were too many things to think of which for me is impossible during the downswing.
But when I turn my hip during down swing I tend to become unstable or my left foot turns 90 degrees (left foot toe will face the target ). Tried to straighten my left leg as suggested but I can only think of turning my hip. Cannot think of more than one thing during downswing. Tried to find a tip on how to be balanced but could not find any.

If your left foot is twisting you don’t have enough weight on it. More weight on it and it can’t twist.
