what do you recommend doing if one is unable to get the shaft on the back of the neck, due to 25 years of weight lifting, and the resulting very limited flexibility,,cannot get the shaft on the base of my neck!!!

Place the club on the front of your chest and do the same drill. Make sure you are rotating it like the helicopter blades.

The helicopter is to warm up. You need to stretch out the coil. This won’t happen with it on your hips.

GREETINGS COACH do you touch the knees when you uncoil in the drill?

You should be touching the legs while doing this. Great way to work on the position.

I noticed that when you did this drill your shoulders where level. Should you do this in your golf posture? That is before you begin the drill should you adopt your golf stance or just keep your shoulders level? I have been struggling to find a trigger to start my uncoiling of my lower body and keep my arms powerless. I have done this drill and your favorite drill 100x of times but I just can’t seem to find the “feeling”/trigger to initiate the uncoiling action of the lower body. Any suggestions/drills would be greatly appreciated.
This drill is to give you the through process of what you are even trying to do in your swing as well as loosen you up. When I see people do this at the range they are doing it like a see-saw which is not what you want to do.
You want a taller setup to get the coiling and uncoiling but in no way are your shoulders coiling level to the ground. Your shoulders would be tilted as you go back because you are tilted at set up. The only way they would turn back level would be if you were standing vertically or you stood up so you were vertical going back. So you are tilted at setup. You coil back still tilted but it feels level.
The way to check it is here:

Failing that you might want to do a swing analysis with my assistant so he can check. Sounds like you are a little unsure right now of your positioning. Just let us know.
