  1. Hello Paul,
Would this be a good shot to hit between or under tree branches when you are not on the fairways

  2. Back in Texas we called that a West Texas Windy.

  3. Similar to Gary’s question above Paul, given this shot is used to hit under tree branches etc, What club would you recommend for this type of punch shot? Particularly if you wish to keep the ball very low initially to clear the lower branches…
    Your tips are terrific BTW…

    • I would be using 5/6/7 iron range. A 4 iron would be going VERY low, but maybe you have extremely low branches. I wouldn’t use fairway woods for punching under trees.

  4. Paul,
My golf club is situated in the lower latitudes where high winds are seasonal, what is your recommendation for playing tee & fairway shots in high wind conditions’

    • Swinging slightly slower can help, as you do not want too much backspin on your golf ball. The more backspin the higher the ball will go. You can try a lower spinning golf ball also if you are hitting it too high. More punch shots is important also, when playing in heavy winds.

Thanks so much Paul, will this still work as well when the ground is very saturated and mushy like most of year in the Pacific Northwest?
