Paul, of all the tips you’ve presented over the years, this one is king; at least it was and is for me! What a difference it makes in your entire game to simply slow down and feel each shot…..Thank u again for all your help and guidance in learning your “powerless” arms approach to golf!! Rand

    Hi Paul,

Great tip! Can’t wait to get out there and try it out with my new easy swing.

I played one of my best rounds under pressure several years ago and now I know why. For every shot I pretended to throw a ball easily out in front of me to a spot. I think just kept that in mind and made a swing, thinking of the easy throw to the spot. This tip reminded me of that. Over one closer is even better.

I get it for hitting fairways. In terms of hitting more greens and not getting hung up on distance, would you recommend taking a club or 2 more than normal, so you aren’t worried about the distance, then pick out out the spot to easily swing over it? Or some other way?

    Thanks so much,
    John

Definitely start with using 1/2 to 1 club more. You will find that you end up using the same club or even start to hi the golf ball further. I would not go to 2 clubs more, this will be overkill. Also, if you want to start hitting more greens, then start to aim at the middle of each green and forget about where the flag is, if you hit the middle of every green then 6 of your golf shots would be right next to the flag. This will get you some confidence and some lower scores for sure.

I can relate to this advise, I was playing in a match last week with a player off 8 handicap I’m off 15, he was hitting fairway after fairway and infact at the end he had it all 14. In the discussion after i commented on this and his reply was. A few months ago he was missing most with a hook and what he did was slow down his swing and this is the result, initially he lost a little distance but was now hitting it regularly 250 yards, with an effortless swing.

  4. Great advice. My pride gets in the way way too much when I’m playing with friends. It’s going to take a lot of self control but I know it’ll be worth it.
