Greetings Coach This tip hits home for me/I started with you in may and i had been playing for over 40 years till then/when i first started to apply your teachings it was like i started all over again/I had a hard time at first believing in the concept but after about 6 weeks/as its said in scotland/ The Haggis was in the fire/so no reason to turn back/it took about two months of following your teachings then one day on the course it happened /my arms felt like they were not there and for the rest of the round the ball just took off by itself/it took maybe another month before what i had been learning really took control of my game and from then on golf was a lot more fun and people noticed the improvement/So all i can say is Accept Believe and Do It Sorry for being so long but it worked THANKS COACH

      John,

Glad you stuck with it. 40 years to do wrong vs. 2 months to do it right. Sounds good to me. Imagine if you hadn’t made the change. Glad you are getting it.

    Hi Paul,

My wife, Barbara, and I just love your lessons on all aspects of the game. You really do have a great way of presenting this game to us, and I’m sure to many others as well.

This was a great video to watch and reinforce how to take your teaching to the course.

We look forward every morning to watching our friend (you) show up for our coffee.

    Thanks so much,
    Don and Barbara

Paul Great communication. Thanks! I need some advice about bounce. I am going to order Vokey wedges with 50% 54% and 58%. I am not a “digger” and my course has the new type heavy sand as apposed to fluffy thin sand. Advise?

      Joel,

For heavy sand you want wedges with less bounce and a narrower sole especially if you are not a digger. Can you not try a couple out just to make sure you find what works best?

Paul, years ago, I had taken up martial arts. It required a lot of practice with the punching techniques. The hips gave the power of the punch, but was difficult for me to grasp. One day it came and I did develop a muscle memory for doing this. You are correct in telling us out there to practice and practice. Once it comes, it becomes a memory and natural. Even though I have not practiced martial arts in years, I could still perform these techniques. What I can’t understand is how an excellent golfer loses his swing when he has imbedded muscle memory.

      Kenneth,

This is a perfect description. I have mentioned to students in the past that you throw a punch with your legs and hips not your arm. I like the fact that you keep doing it and got the sensation. I feel everyone had done this before because everyone has thrown a ball which is the same motion as well. It is just getting people to know what they should be doing an over coming human nature so they actually do it instead of just trying to hit with the arms.

The temptation to hit is so great that even the best players fall victim. Keep in mind these players have added pressure of trying to win so they push the envelope sometimes when really hitting a fairway or green would be more advantageous. It happens to the best of them.

This is the video to watch before going out to the range and onto the course. It gets your mind “right”! Thanks Paul…

    Hi Paul,

I have been following you for too long without believing and trusting. I took a break last year and got over 200 tips behind, but I have saved the emails. I have started to catch up WITH A PURPOSE. I loved this tip. Once one “gets it” and believes, the sky is the limit. I am, for the first time, LISTENING. I am ecstatic. My goal is to shoot my age, and, I believe I am finally on my way. I will be 70 in July. I play with a seniors group and, from the senior tees, I see no reason while I cannot achieve this goal. My current handicap is 16. 30 years ago I was an eight – on athletic ability alone. I had no clue what I should be doing. Now, because of you, I have direction. I intend to be a success story that you will be able to tell others about. I will keep you posted. Thank you so much.

      Len,

Good stuff and good goal. Don’t get overloaded. Stick with grip, set up and follow through then supplement with tips on these topics. Master those and you will look like a pro. Then tidy up the backswing. This is not tough. You just have to do it as I explain. I have taught this way for over 24 years and get amazing results. Do the positions exactly like I am though. You copy me (look for the feedback in the positions) and you will have the right fundamentals too.

Hey Paul….This is a great tip. I have been following your stuff for a fairly short time. I got amazing results right away simply by swinging at 50% speed…but with a full swing. The way I was hitting the ball at the range was better than I have ever hit it…with so little effort. My friends were remarking on how great the swing was starting to look. Then I would go to the course and everything would go down the tubes. The transition to the actual golf course has been difficult….but this tip has made a big difference, and it was all about lowering expectations and not going back to the old ways. . Thanks for all these tips. I am a huge believer…and have been recommending your site to many others.

      Paul,

I constantly here that people have trouble taking their new swing to the course. How can anyone expect to bring something new to the course if they keep doing the same thing they have always done? Not going to happen. What people have to realize is the new swing is different. You need to start out slow and just do something different. Who cares if it takes a few rounds to get it. Small price to pay versus the old swing.

      Glad you see it now.
