Struggle Touching Your Head?

By | on April 25, 2024 | 9 Comments | Array

In this tip I am talking about the touching the head position, I see a lot of people struggling with this position. This is usually because they are too tight with their wrists. I want you to be touching the back of your head with the golf club parallel to your ears. Check your follow-through position to see if you are close or not and then work on this tip.

I see a lot of golfers ending up with the club running vertically up and down their back I’m the follow through. Is that a result of a arm swing rather than the body swing?

      Glenn,

This is arms as well as not knowing the position. It can be from sliding too. See how few people do this. If they don’t look like a pro when they swing how do they ever get the right fundamentals. This is a vital position in the swing.

Sometimes I feel like my arms are powerless through my swing but my arms still end of short of touching my head. Am I still tightening up with my arms?

      Michael,

It could be. I can also be you not knowing the position or trying to do it. At first, you need to manually take the club and set it there exactly between the ears. You keep doing it and it will go there without thinking about it. Repeat … repeat … every day until it goes there.

    Paul,

Every time I think I’ve got it, one of your great reminders convinces me I still need to keep hearing it over and over and over… (as you always say!). My last round was a bit of a scuffle and looking back I really can’t even remember what my “touch the head” position was doing. That is a bad sign. I do know that nearly every time I consciously feel the club finishing in the right position, I have hit a great shot.

Time for me to recommit. Thanks for the reminder. Keep them coming!

      Mike,

Never say “you’ve got it.” That is the kiss of death. Even when Tiger was beating everyone he never said he had his A game.

Just keep doing the positions until you know no other way to swing.
