CraigSmithHi Paul and Pete,
What do you see as a correlation of setup position (distance to the ball) and getting the backswing more down the line?
Or, starting from assessing a finish position (touch the head), the correlation of a taller, softer finish to where the club was in the backswing…
Thanks, Craig

Paul WilsonHello Craig, normally it’s depth of swing that affects the club down the line at the top. No always but usually. At 3/4 back I like the glove hand off the armpit. If so the club will be down the line. Outside and it will lay off. Inside and it will cross. You can get a Freddy Couples taking it outside initially then a big shoulder turn later in the backswing getting it down the line or a little across.
I hate that layed off backswing. So focus on the 3/4 back point and do backswings in a mirror. You get that it should be perfect at the top.
Not sure about assessing it from the follow through. People can be all over the place back there and still do a perfect follow through due to leading with the hips (axis).
As you know I like a taller set up. This means that you are not all bent over like these guys seem to be teaching today. I am building a swing for life that doesn’t hurt your body so be a little taller (not too tall though).
