This sounds really interesting. Iām looking forward to trying it. I remember the book Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. He said the secret to success was: anything a man can conceive and believe he can achieve. The big problem is believing what I conceive.
I’m intrigued by this, and it would help me if you would further describe the difference between “visualization” and “imagination.” The dictionary lists “visualization” as a synonym for “imagination.” What is the difference between me “visualizing my ball landing in the fairway” and “Imagining my ball landing in the fairway?” I’m sure there is a distinction that you’re seeing that i’m just not getting.
Dear Mr Schur ,See my comments below :there’s no great difference between “Visualization ” and “Imagination “:walking is imagination ,see yourself walking is visualization of the picture of yourself walking
Dave ,There’s a fine line between”Imagination “and “Visualization “I was (and still am )a very proficient mathematician .When I had a problem to solve ,be it Algebra,Geometry or Analysis ,I would see it in my minds eye and and turn it over and over again and come up with a solution which I would unravel in my head ,not writing anything on a piece of paper .Difficult problems I would solve at night while sleeping .
Playing chess is the same for me .
Playing golf is like playing chess or solving a mathematical problem ,you imagine and visualize one move after another .There’s no difficulty in “seeing ” the moves in your head .When you play a course ,you can play the course beforehand in your head ,shot after shot.
Great athletes such a downhill skiers play the steep downhill slopes and turns in their heads hundreds of times before the real event, eyes closed.
