Dr. Dave, yes I use this all the time. I think Paul also did a similat tip and has really stuck with me. Even on really long putts, still get it in that ‘easy’ zone. I actually pick the side of the hole that I want the putt to die into. Works very well. Thanks much and I still need to do my WTW course!! Lol. – Kim
For severe uphill putts, is it ok to think “drop ball into back of cup” to be a little more aggressive? I find on these putts when I think easing it into the hole I still come up waaayy short.
Yes, but just be careful you still want the ball to end up if you miss very close to the hole. If you hit the golf ball way past then you could have a severe downhill putt coming back. The thought really should be to just let the ball die into the front of the hole. If you miss, then you only have a couple inch putt.

JohnBensonI mostly 2 putt even being a new player just started my second year of golf (it’s my long game that suffers) but I really don’t have a philosophy.
This TOTALLY makes sense and what a great thought process to sink my golf teeth into!

Everyone is different. There is no “one way”.
Find what works and use it. No right. No wt=rong…only what works.
Make the back of the hole ur target if that helps on those kinds of putts

JohnSharkeyThanks for the quick response, David! That feels right, definitely see your point about focusing intention on what you want, not what you don’t want.
