This tip is very appropriate for me at the moment. I have had a short backswing for a while now, and yet I am capable of doing a full backswing. When I am playing, my practice swing is a full backswing but then when I go to hit the ball I shorten it ???? Is that because I am in too much of a hurry to hit the ball ? Or too tight ???

Your practice swing, you are not thinking of hitting the golf ball as there is none to hit, so you are a little too ball conscience when trying to make swing changes. I would start by slowing down and trying to actually do the move with the golf ball in front of you. You will take so long to make actual changes and this will be tough for you to get to that next level of golf. Check out these 2 tips for you, the second I also use to get golfers to lengthen their swing:

      • We did some one on one training several years back- 9 actually!- and a super short backswing continues to kill my golf swing and caused me to stop playing several times.
With no ball i can make a beautiful fluid swing and a full shoulder turn.
With the ball there it’s as if there’s an invisible force keeping me from even completing have the backswing before i start back down again.
I know it’s all psychological….and i’m at my wits end with this. No proper hinge and no power

As I watched the video, I was thinking about how you might do this inside in the winter. If you had a Liveview camera, for instance, couldn’t you place the camera behind you and the iPad or other video device in front of you and obtain the same information about your backswing?

For sure! That is one of the great things about the liveview camera system. Anything really to make sure that you are keeping your golf swing consistent during the times when it is tougher to go out to the range to work on your golf swing.

At set up my hands and club are a couple of inches from my waist at the start of the take away.
On the downswing my hands and end of club move away from my waist a good 4-6 inches while making contact with the ball. How do I get closer to set up alignment to try to match both positions?
    Thank you,
