    Hi Paul

Would you recommend pressing / digging in the length of the left side of the back foot into the ground to act as a brace and provide resistance as one gets to the top of the backswing?

    Thanks
    Gordon

      Gordon,

No. You are not digging anything on the left foot unless you are left handed. I don’t know if you are. I am not even thinking of the left. I solidly feel the instep of the right foot at the moment I hit the top.

Great tip thanks Paul, a great way to stop the “sway”.

Paul! You blow my mind! Huge tip! I am always on the wrong edge of my shoe and I end up spinning out and having balance issues and know this is a big fault in my swing. Going to spend a ton of time on this! Thank You!

BEN HOGAN said that his precision came from a very stable right foot (No Rolling over to the outside of the foot, just as you teach ).I carry this move a bit further :I dig in the right instep right from address .This enhances the torque (The JIM Mc LEAN” X factor “) of the “spring “.The trigger to start the backswing is built in from the beginning and the downswing starts instantanously as a reflex action when the upper body is fully coiled and you feel the maximum stretch in your back. .

      Raymond,

Exactly, this is a huge position and I am sick pf people not doing it.

Hogan also had his shoes custom made with an extra spike on the right instep.

Yes, this will definitely get you feeling the stretch.

    Hi Paul.
Great tip, I think I’m doing it right , I can feel the ball of my foot wanting to twist out to the right
every shot and i only feel this when i load the inside of the foot.
    regards Mal

      Mal,

Yes, this is holding the whole swing together. So the pressure of the coil is trying to move the foot. You have to brace it (which you are). Good job.

    Huge tip for me!
This brings it all together. Much easier to touch the legs, touch the head.
I hit my shots longer and much more consistently with this tip. I haven’t even tried spending up my hips yet.
Golf is much more fun with this tip.

      Michael,

Very good. This is a huge piece for everyone. As I said in the tip not one person over the years has said they have not hit it longer by working on this. Keep at it and never forget it.
