Excellent suggestion ,Dave ! Many of us act this way when a water hasard looms ahead .
You CAN also “pump yourself up” by saying to yourself you are going to hit a beautiful shot and remember One you did hit in similar circumstances !
Hi Dave,
Thanks for all your good tips.
My problem arises after I’ve hit 2 or even 3 brand-new balls successively into the water hazard especially with my driver.
I then use my oldest ball, often “found” near a driving range, relax completely and hit the best shots ever.
Cheers,
Ian.
“Old ball” or “brand new ball”,it doesn’t make the shot easier for that .
It’s better to concentrate on the swing you’re about de make than on the ball
I play at an old 1917 Stanley Thompson golf course that requires adapting to steep slopes. Have had some success playing a RH sand wedge left handed. The ball position is knee high instead of way below my feet on a steep slope. Is there a better technique for such shots from 20 yards or so?

LenKoblenzDave,
I have always used my ‘best’ ball on par 3s over water. I tend to keep my ‘head down’ to make sure that I don’t lose that ball.
