    Paul,

Do you have to think of moving your head back swing or does it happen automatically. Does moving the head back in the backswing have a similarity with iron Byrom?

    • Roy,

Most people have to literally move their head going back. This is because human nature is telling you to stay in a comfortable, in balance position overtop of the ball. I just did drill you can try the other day. Here it is:

      And:

How Human Nature Affects The Head Position: https://ignitiongolf.com/human-nature-head-position/
Drill: Watch Your Head Move in the Backswing: https://ignitiongolf.com/head-move-mirror/

The Iron Byron does not move it’s head because it is made out of metal and can turn in a perfect circle. You have your feet spread apart. In doing so you have 2 bottoms and 1 top to an axis. In order to create a axis to turn around you need to move your head. When you do you create the first axis between your head, body and back leg. After you hit the ball you create a second axis between your head, body and forward leg. So this later movement means the golf swing is not a perfect circle. It also means explains why pros are only 70% whereas the machine is 99.9999%

Reading and working through Body Swing. Since working with you I have dropped from 43 to 32 hc. This has been because of Touch the leg…touch the head routine. I have never been able to understand fully the hinge. eg where does the club head point, etc. When I try to put everything together the ball goes wayward! I know you will give me great feedback as usual. I’m totally committed to your instruction so look forward to your guidance.

    • MJ,

Glad you are improving. I love hearing it.

Not sure I understand what you are saying about the hinge. The club will hinge fully going back. Into the follow through it will rehinge. Also the club should be perpendicular to the target line splitting your ears and clubshaft touching your head not the rubber grip.

All of this stuff takes time to master. Sounds like you are trying to work on too much. Just work on grip, setup and follow through for now. Make these things perfect. The more perfect they are the better you will hit it. Then add the backswing coil around a stable lower body. Master that. Then move on to the backswing hinge. This is the order I teach everyone.

  3. Paul ,GREAT summing up OF your golf instruction .I’ve done what you démonstrate thousands OF Times :I Play 18 holes every two days ,and when I don’t Play I practice at home in front OF a Window pane ,withh any Ball ,but THE location OF THE Ball is marked by a strip on THE carpet in front OF me .Another Window pane is several yards away at right Angles ,in order to Watch THE ” Finish position”.I do 200 swings this way ,with various clubs .M’y swing is now perfectly grooved .
I am now a step further ,I try do Play Like ERNEST JONES SAYS in his ancien t book ” SWINGING INTO GOLF ” which means feel what THE clubhead does .I don’t break down THE swing into parts ,it’s a complète movement .OF course THE positions you TEAÇH are helpful ,but you must Forget them when you Play on THE golf course .I try to follow what ” BAGGER VANCE “says to JUNAH ,IN ” THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE ” !Each OF us has a unique golf swing
I played a gain this morning 18 holes wonderfully ,every thing seemed to work on its own ,including putting and chipping .
I fin d That training your putting at home from 2 Feet to 20 feet is very bénéficial to m’y game : at each distance ,4 feet by 4 feet ,I put 20 BALLS : I have ” WELLING MAT ” which has THE same speed as THE regular putting Green !THE Line OF putting is bordered by corks I have not to knock down ,THE hole is surrounded by corks which I have to knock down .
THE mots difficult puts to hole are THE short ones ,under 6 feet .

  4. Paul,I started with you three years ago ,in 2013.Since THE beginning I did THE drills and THE moves you démonstrate .I pays off now ,after a lot OF hard work on m’y behalf ,and taking THE swing changes to THE golf course .You can’t fool THE golf course ,it shows you if you are right or wrong .
As I Play every two days and m’y scores have dropped .This demonstrates your golf lessons are nô ” Make believe ” .
It should be underlined That I am an” Old Man.” ,82 years OF âge ,and That to Play sound golf you need not be a youngster with plenty OF muscles .
Now a question : I practice two kinds OF swings : one is” natural ” ,I swing in a rotary fashion ,THE shaft OF m’y club bisects THE back OF m’y head in THE finish.
In THE other one ,I finish higher ,I try to move THE clubhead higher in THE through swing and THE finish is higher behind m’y head
When I mesure with my systèm,: two SSRTT close together ,one foot apart,THE first one where THE ball is supposed to lie,THE second one in front towards THE target : if THE second SSRTT shows a higher figure ,THE clubhead accélerates after impact point : if ot shows a lower figure ,THE clubhead décélèrarates after impact point .
With THE ‘ rotary swing ” THE second figure ( towards THE target ) is equal or lower .With THE ” high finish “,THE second figure is higher .I deduct That THE high finish produise More speed OF THE Ball .The problem is I don’t feel this ” HIGH FINISH” natural .THE ” ROTARY SWING ” is easier to acheive .
What do you advise me to do?

    • Raymond,

I need you to do the swing I teach. There is no way for me to tell if you are even doing the second swing well or if you are even consistent with it. IF you get 5 more yards but your ball is in the trees what is the benefit? You need to find your maximum while still maintaining consistency.

      • Paul,I swing exactly as you teach me : this is what I call THE ” rotary swing ” .THE other swing is tentative ,I don’t take it to THE golf course ,as m’y ” rotary swing ” is ALWAYS ,ALWAYS straight ,straight ,straight .So i’ll Forget for THE Time being THE ” second ” swing .Thanks for your sourd advice .

    Paul,

Love this tip. It takes a lot of the extraneous thoughts out of our head as we stand over the ball. This tip keeps it simple.

As always, thanks for you very timely tips. Always appreciated!

    Roy

    • Roy,

Glad you like it. Thanks. I just wanted to simply on this one. I guess I did just that.

  6. Thanks Paul. This has helped so much.
Sequence. Coil, hinge, touch legs, and touch the head.

Is this specific enough to use as your swing thought when playing?

      Stian,

I would be doing this in slow practice swings. You need time to recognize each position.

    paul,

On my follow thru,My elbows are not close like yours. Mine are wider on the follow thru.
    What am I doing wrong?
