    Hi Paul,

What is your best further video that might actually combine your instruction for the full demo of using the trigger for coiling and uncoiling (touching the knees) while commenting also on the actual timing of the downswing, going into the slot, and the release motion? Do you have a combined lesson for this total motion? Thanks….

      Craig,

Not sure I have one combining everything. Good idea though. I will shoot one in the near future. Thanks.

Greetings Coach: For some time now I have been using a trigger “HINGE AND TURN” it is working well, most of the time ,I have my moments. Is a two thought trigger “OK” or too much to think about in that FLASH from back swing to down swing. THANKS .

      John,

Well hinging is not a trigger. This is a backswing thought. The turn is fine because that would be the hips turning. If it is working keep doing it.

I use the trigger also for chips and pitches. OK?

You don’t really need it for chipping. Chipping it like putting. Again, if this is really working then do it. I am basically thinking right hand accelerating when chipping.

Hi Paul, I have been pretty sucessful with uncoiling from the bottom, but up until now I have still been using my arms too much in the swing. My trigger now is Hinge then feel no tension in the middle of my back, then ‘back’. (For look at the back of the ball) then turn. All seems longwinded but at last it is working. The primary aim is to loose all the tension from my body and arms so that at the end of the swing I feel nothing, thanks for all your coaching, you’re the best. Kind regards Ian henry

It’s funny how neuro-associative thoughts can make our bodies function more effectively.

Since most of us need to overcome overly active arms, triggers that target lower body parts obviously work best.

Funny too how different triggers may work differently for different golfers . . . The mind is perhaps the most powerful tool we have, best to use it with that in mind. The ideal trigger for a particular player may allow her to hit 9 good shots out of 10 instead of 4 or 5.

    Thanks Coach, all the best.

      Anthony,

      Glad you liked it.

Yes, your brain is amazing. It’s tough for me to get people to think differently but I just keep at it. It’s like taming a wild stallion sometimes. Once they it though, it’s a real aha moment. I love seeing it.

In answer to Craig’s question above, your excellent video “Point A to Point B” sums everything up in a nutshell.
    Best wishes, Fernando

    Paul,

When you use your forward leg as your trigger,is the leg straight at impact or does it become straight after impact?

Paul, great video on triggers – no doubt a mainstay of your swing approach. Tough for old salty dog to acquire – working your #1 drill daily to “record over” my brain’s memory of starting down with the arms, outside in. Prior to PW, my arm swing naturally was outside in, thus, a “slide” or “sway” was needed to get the club face on the ball – never could hit from a “firm left side”. Soooo, “locking the left leg” trigger seems to be my favorite to date, however, not close to being “ingrained”..
Watching your full swing, when you “dig in” with your right foot, you lock your left leg beautifully – my goal…
Watching the Mexico tourney this weekend, you are sooo on target, all these pros end up in your “position B” in their full swings – except as you noted in a video, Michelson!!! Yes, he slides – amazing.
Finally, the arm less movement seems easier to me for highly lofted clubs – not trying to “smack” it with arms. I get the 7 and higher clubs in my hands, the “smack” factor starts coming out. More drills and slow down.. Thanks for all you’re doing.

    • Dan,

      Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

I like the recording over. Exactly what you need to do and you can only do this with repetition.

Just stick with perfect positioning. Turn the arms off later once you get the swing. You are right the longer the club the harder it is to not hit. Like I said, you get the positions and build a great swing. This means you would be using the legs and hips as the power source. At this point you can turn the arms off because you have another power source. Your just turn the arms off and you may not get the distance you are after if you haven’t worked on the legs and the triggers. So get them moving first and the final step is powerless arms.
