Paul, as usual, great video. I am 70 yrs. old and am in great shape. I took up golf 15 yrs. ago and have committed all errors in golf that can be committed.. Your videos have helped me. Now, I have irons with graphite shafts. Should I stay with them or use irons with stainless steel shafts?

      Ken,

Glad you liked it. Thanks for the feedback.

You should be using steel for feel. If you need more distance use graphite. The graphite shafts of today are much better than 10 years ago.

Great reminder ,Paul ,of your basic techniques :even if it’s a repetition of your previous videos ,it comes in very useful, because bad habits creep back insiduously on you .
I prefer the term “Passive “arms to your “Powerless”arms ,but it means the same thing :one golf teacher said one day that you should feel your arms are “pasta” when swinging .
I ‘ve been watching recently the last Re Max Long Drive Championsips in LAS VEGAS ,where you live:the contest was won by an athlete by the name of Tim BURKE with a 425 Yards shot .Those guys rotate their body incredibly fast (Your technique! ),but they do also use their arms! But it’s not the same game !
Now a question:at address ,do you advise setting the toe of the clubhead to the ball to allow the club head to pull out during the actual swing ?
I do a variation of this with the driver (one third from the toe ) ,but not with the irons or fairway woods .
What is your opinion on the subject ?

      Raymond,

The teacher saying your arms should be like pasta has probably read my book because I say this in my book.

The long drive guy use body and arms because they only have to get 1 ball in grid. They are going to wail at it and drive their bodies as hard as they can to generate as much power as possible. I used to teach Mike Dobbyn Remax Long Drive Champion in 2007 so I know all about what they are using to hit the ball. It is truly amazing!

I tee it on the toe ala George Knudson. If you want to do this go ahead. I followed his teaching many, many years ago.

    Thanks Paul,
I know it works; it just takes time to put it all together to do it on every shot. I have come a long way; thanks again!

    Hi Paul
Love your videos and your whole concept witch i have taken to over the last month but im having huge trouble breaking my old habits such as using my arms to much over the top and not being able to release the club head correctly.
with the release should i be rotating my wrists or if my arms and wrists are loose enough will they roll natualy?

      David,

Right now you need to be manually rolling the wrists until you have trained them to roll over. Doing it manually allows you to master it faster than just letting them be loose. If you are having trouble doing this you are trying to hit great shots instead of getting the roll over. So slow down. This will give you more time to do it by the time the club hits the ball. With more time you will see your shots hook. Once you can hook it consistently you can then think of powering your swing with your legs and hips.

        Thanks a lot paul
My other question is about the position of the club face at the top of the back swing I have a feeling mine is to open

          David,

Being square at the top of the backswing is very important. I did a top on it here:

Thanks again hopefully this can solve one of my many problems
Being a tall golfer around 6-4 is there any other tips that might help me ?

            David,

You height should not be a problem. Use it to your advantage. You need to make sure you are setting up tall not bending over too much:

Thank you for all your tips Paul can’t tell you how great it is to be able to interact with the teacher of the method we use. Really starting to get my swing together now I have my body moving well powerless arms played this morning and had my best round of golf ever won the day was very happy.
However for some reason when I step up to hit my driver I really struggle with getting my body to move first I’m fine in the practise swings it feels great but as soon as I hit it all goes wrong and always ends up with a slice
            Any help on this?

            David,

Glad you like the tips. I truly appreciate the feedback.

Glad you are playing well too. I love hearing it.

The driver is tough. Everyone wants to hit it as hard as they can. You need to follow my release tips and get it hooking. If you are slicing the face is open so when do you ever square it? Answer: Never. If you hook it the face is closed but at least it square. So you slow down and get it hooking. Once you can do this consistently you then focus on the body rotation to straighten it back out. Did you no see these recent tips I posted?
