    Hi Paul,

Good tip I tend to get more bent over and I agree this makes the coiling more difficult to feel. Lately, I’ve had poor contact and toe hits. I’ve narrowed it down to an overactive right hand. Where do you recommend emphasis in the grip? I’ve read about the last three fingers of the lt hand being the key. I know I tend to hold the club more in my right hand because I get a bruise and callus on the pad on my left hand across from my pinky. I hold the club properly in my left hand but I feel it shift towards my palm during the swing (at contact). When I’m hiting the ball properly, this shifting and bruising does not occur. I’ve had this issue for a long time, the more the shifting, the poorer the contact and scores. Now, even with powerless arms I’m still getting the toe hits and shifting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

      Paul,

The toeing of your shots is you raising up through impact. The more you lift up the more the club moves closer to you. This would lead me to believe you are trying to hit. The more you hit, the more you will look to see what you hit. So yes, your right hand could be the problem.

I want the grip balanced with neither hand dominating. This is why I want a neutral grip and you starting out with the grip at 2 out of 10 at set up. As you take it to the top it gradually increases to 8 our of 10 with loose wrists. Of course, you would be feeling the security in the fingers of the left hand. Watch this tip to understand the role of the right hand at the top:

I think you are holding the club way too much in the fingers of the left hand. I used to get this blood blister too many years ago because I was holding it in the fingers. Once I held it across the palm this all went away. You really need to check this left hand position:

      Left Hand: https://ignitiongolf.com/left-hand-grip

So check and fix the left hand. Focus on perfect position of the right hand (more in fingers and weaker feeling). This definitely takes time but you need to stick with it. It will all pay off in the future.

        Paul,

I went to the range today and the main issue was connection. I was bent over too much and my swing was too upright. This caused my arms to become disconnected. I got back into the groove of swinging with powerless arms. Odd thing is that the long clubs go full distance but the shorter clubs are short and high. For example, I usually hit a 8 iron 145 yds. The best I cound get is 130 and if I swing easy maybe 120 max. I suspect the longer clubs give me better lag because they have more inertia. When I look at video I’m good until my left arm is horizontal then I start to lose my lag, even with powerless arms. I don’t have very good flexibility with my wrists in the thumb to forearm direction. This makes getting 90 degrees impossible with the standard grip (maybe 70 deg0. Any mods you can recomend to get more better better inherent lag. I can change the grip to put the club more across my fingers but it is not stable.

          Paul,

I have tons of tips on lag. Too many to post. You can find them in the red nav bar here SWING TIPS > FULL SWING > LAG

          I like this one:

DRILL: Lag Ear to Ear: https://ignitiongolf.com/lag-release-drill

This takes constant work so make sure you focus on this for at least the next month. Do it at home, range and while waiting for groups ahead. It will pay off big time if you do.

    Hi Paul

Is there a chance you can stand too tall, and over do it? I assume, as long as you maintain your forward tilt, and flex in your right knee, then all is well?

    thanks

Great exercise. I’m moving to Swing Machine from a style that had me very bent over and swinging on a very flat plane. This is PERFECT for getting me to have the good upright, athletic position. Noticed a significant improvement in consistency of impact, and more confidence that I’m set up to make a good swing through the ball.

I’m still working on getting my plane more upright, when I get lazy I don’t make a good turn, but that’s coming along.
