Paul, this comment is to say thanks and to encourage others who are working on incorporating Paul’s lessons into your game to keep at it.
Yesterday, it all came together for me. I shot my best round in 2 years, tying my all-time best score and finishing the last 14 holes of the round at 2-under with no bogies.
I’ve been a member of the site for 2 years and have been working on the positions and practicing both on the range and at home in between rounds. It has been difficult for me to achieve the powerless arms type of swing but it is finally starting to settle in.
The results have been worth the effort. Drives are 20 to 30 yds longer resulting in higher percentage shots into the green. Short game lessons have helped me to not lose strokes around the green.
Thanks Paul, I was not getting any better until I adopted your methods.
    Regards,
    Tom

    • Tom,

That’s a great stretch of holes. I love hearing it. Thank you for the support so glad you stuck with it.

I agree with Tom. Everything he said here is true about Paul’s teaching.

it’s been two years for me as well on his site [as well as the length of time I’ve been playing golf] and my improvement and enjoying the game has increased dramatically.
      I’ve experienced:
      More technique than distance thinking.
      More greens in regulation.
      More pars.
      More one and two putts.

      • John,

        Thanks. I appreciate it.

You are doing great for the short time you’ve been playing. Keep at it.

  2. Paul, since starting your lessons a month ago, I have dropped from regularly shooting around 85 to regularly breaking 80. Starting with the helicopter drill, I have greatly improved my shoulder turn back creating tension and starting my downswing with my hip turn. I am hitting every club further. I am 71 and have pretty good flexibility. I realized that trying to turn to 90degrees has caused me to turn my hip in the backswing. I found recently that I needed to feel that tension you describe so well. I now have two standard shots to correct this. If I really need to hit the fairway with my driver, or the iron strait, I think of turning about 60 degrees (feeling the tension) and then release. I can almost always hit 200 yards or more on the fairway. My full swing feels like I am turning my shoulders about 80 to 85 degrees. This gets me plenty of distance. I haven’t taken a picture or video yet, but from my shadow I suspect that I am actually turning more than the 60 and 85 degrees, but the feel gives me much more control. I now feel as though I have two go to shots with each club which is very helpful with the shorter irons and wedges. Since I also can choke down with these clubs I now have 4 distances with each. The result is much better proximity to the hole. Does this make sense to you? Also, I hope you will be posting on the website schools for the fall soon. Thanks for all the help.

    • Kevin,

That’s great news and a big jump. Now it really gets exciting.

You want to turn as much as you can turn. I would think it is probably 80-85. Pretty rare when I see someone who can’t turn this much. At 60 degrees I don’t think you’d hit it anywhere but you seem to know the spot so stick to it instead of trying to go more than you are able to.

So I like what you are saying and doing. Distance control is a big part of it. It’s a huge advantage knowing how far you hit the ball instead of a shot flying 30 yards longer than you wanted.

I have the dates in for the schools. Just waiting on confirmation. Please email me so I can let you now once I have the dates. I have a list going.
