Paul, I seem to be hinging too much at the top. In a slow motion video it get the club parallel at the top then it keeps going and head stars back down along with crossing the line. Am i hinging the wrong way.

Paul– I love your taking the club back. The shalf looks so heavy going back, and even at the top. That is what I want to do!!! Paul B

P.s.– Paul, you got that loose, heavy club from taking it back with your shoulders and lose wrists right/

      Paul,

I have hinged it for years so my wrists are loose and the momentum going back hinges it. Once you get it hinging just be loose and it will go there too.

    • Paul, I feel like my left wrist is a little bit cupped and a little bit hinged at the top of my backswing. It gets gets me to the 90 degree angle between left arm and the club.
      Do you agree?
      Thanks, Mike

Yes, there should be a slight amount of cupping in the wrists at the top of the backswing. If you took your set up position and hinged the club up directly in front of you, as if you were trying to hinge it to touch your nose, this is the correct amount of cupping in your top hand.

    Hi Paul,
I love watching your instructional videos and have improved my golf game to a handicap of 5.
However, I have mixed feeling about your hinge on top of golf swing; your hinge to get max angle requires Flex of leading (left) wrists that at times cause weak contact and increase loft of club head.
Therefore, I have made my adjustment to more of Dustin Johnson/John Rahm method; where I Bow/Extend the leading (left) wrist at Top of swing resulting in more of solid and decrease loft of club head, resulting in longer carry/distance.
Can you comment or maybe do a video about this?
Thank you and All the Best,
    Tae Chung, M.D.

Paul– I have struggled trying to keep powerless arms at the top and this video really helped by saying its OK to let your arms extend out freely–there is much less tension than keeping the arms too close and connected. I am still confused about the relationship between the grip and hinging with the left wrist only? Or both wrists hinge together? Can you share some links? Thx, Paul
