Greetings Coach Beautiful tip the mind is powerful and this game sure tests that power I played one statement over and over/ did you mean to say that what we have control over in our mind is short and no control great or the other way round

    Hi David,
On some holes there are certain visual setups of trouble that cause me to hit right into the trouble. For example carry overwater, or a large tree at the bend of a dogleg. If you do this shot on the range , of course without the visual distraction, you can make the shot. How can overcome this?

YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY OFFERED NO PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATIONS TO “OVERTHINKING” UR FOCAL POINTS–IE,I NEVER THINK ABOUT WHATS HAPPENING IN MY LIFE AT THE PRESENT MOMENT,BUT RATHER TEND TO FOCUS ON MY GOLF SWING,LIKE TAKEAWAY,DOWNSWING AND IMPACT,AND ALL THE ATTACHED MOVEMENTS THAT GO ALONG WITH THE FOCUSES–SO,RATHER THAN HAVING ALL THOSE DAMN THOUGHTS ABOUT THE “GOLF SWING BASICS”,HOW SIMPLY DOES ONE LEARN TO SIMPLY STEP UP AND HIT,WITHOUT THINKING AT ALL???

      Rich,

We are having a problem with David posting comments to the site. Once we get it figured out he will reply. FYI – when you type ALL CAPS it means you are yelling.

      My answer:

You learn to simply step up to it by mastering certain pieces of the swing. Coiling and loose wrists. If you never put slice spin on the ball then you know you have mastered the release. If you never put slice spin on it why would you be thinking of your release? You are releasing it. Get it? You master the pieces. If you master something you no longer have to think about it. I think about coiling going back. That is it. Coiling creates torque. I know torque will repeat 100% of the time in life.

I always hinge the club fully going back, I always move my head going back, I always touch my legs in the follow through and I always split my ears in the follow through. If I always does these things why would I be thinking about them. I think about coiling because I base my whole swing on this torque and forces acting on the mass. If I coil up properly I know it will be a good shot.

So master each piece/swing position. This is why I keep telling everyone it is about the movement NOT the ball.
