In this tip I show you how to move the head behind the ball in the backswing. If you want to create the proper path (slightly from the inside) you must learn how to keep your head behind the ball.

  1. Hi Pail,, Do you continue to keep your eye on the ball at the top of your backswing? On the the follow-through are you extending your arms 2-3 ft befoer wrapping them around? Do you know a pro in the Fort Lauderdale area who teaches your method? Thanks, Bernard Mlaver

I have a question not related to this tip 11 if your are interested in answering. I have friend who is a 5 handicap and has just become stumped with a problem that just occurred in his last two games. He hits the ball perfectly straight off the turf and full contact with any club. Off the tee he hooks his ball no matter what club he picks up. Any ideas ?

    • Larry,

He is changing his grip with driver just before he takes the club back. Watch for it. If you are hooking without trying to hook it you have a grip problem. With a neutral grip it would be very difficult to over hook it unless you were purposely rolling it over (which he is probably not doing). He needs to do my neutral grip and not move it just before he takes the club back. Watch carefully. You will see him change his grip. If he needs to learn the neutral grip I have it as a sample I can send him. Have him contact me.

    Hi Paul,
Thank you in advance for reading my question.
I am progressing with the new Body Swing. Thanks for that.
You have said in many videos to practice on ONE thing at a time and I agree.
I have not heard anywhere in your tips and videos the order in which you practice.
I think it is VERY important to go one step at a time to perfect the swing.
    So, my question:
Once you have your correct setup and grip with LOOSE arms the moves begin. Is the following the correct order to learn all of the moves properly?
    1) Proper Takeaway 2) Back swing speed 3) Correct Plane 4) Proper Wrist Cock
    5) Body Tilt 6) Down swing 7) Lower Leg drive 8) Touch the legs 9) Finish and hold

I think your answer will help everyone greatly. Thanks

      John,

Here is what you practice: https://ignitiongolf.com/start-here/ This is on the members page as soon as you log in for the every first time. You also have The Body Swing which is this very same order so I’m not sure how you don’t know this.

So it is grip and setup. Then you master the follow through. Then you add the coil. Then the coil then hinge the legs then head. This is the order. At this point you should be hitting it great so you would then be trying to make each move more perfect and tidy it up. You could then work on turning the arms off and more distance if you need it.

So follow it in that order. Use other tips to supplement those lessons. So if you are working on the touch the legs position then watch tips on that subject and so on. Don’t jump all over or it will get confusing. Stay focused and you will get it. There are many reasons I teach this way. You get the grip setup and follow through alone and you should be hitting it better than you ever have in your life.
