  1. Paul,

Let the crickets now stop chirping. :). This is the set of videos you should repeat every Friday, IMHO. While all of your tips are fantastic, I put this set as my #1 vote. Reason? Elimination of so many variables once mastered. Is nice for me now to only work on 3 things vs 19 as I have become pretty consistent on setup routine. Definitely takes work, but worth it so much. Toughest thing for me to master is stretching my arms out (the ‘losing control’ element is tough mentally to let go) and best consistency element is to use the intermediate target to set clubface. Has made me significantly more consistent on direction.

Solid basics, solid basics, solid basics. Nuf said.

    Paul,

With regards to your video on The Setup, I am tall, about 6’5″ and whenever I try to set up where you suggest the handle of the club is pointing more to my crotch than to my belt buckle. I have tried to bring the handle of the club up higher but it seems so odd and that I’m standing too close. Perhaps I am bending over too much but this has always been an issue. Is there a difference for tall versus regular height players in this regard?

Also another problem for years has been Standing Up! I think it is either during the backswing or sometimes even during the downswing when I notice I actually have me heals come off of the ground. Any further suggestions to correct would certainly be appreciated.

    Thanks much,

    Paul

      Paul,

At you height though you should have club bend upright about 4 degrees and upwards of an inch or so longer than standard. Not sure if you had your clubs fitted of not. Also, some taller people have the butt go above the belt line. Not sure if I said that in that tip. I usually do. You can email me a picture from down the line and I will check it.

Standing up is you trying to relive the torque going back. This is one of the six things people do to avoid the coil. You need to watch this tip:

Once you see that tip it might stop it.

    Paul,

I emailed the pic you requested. As far as I know my clubs are at least an inch longer than standard. Don’t know anything about the 4 degrees up however.

    Thanks,

    Paul

      Paul,

I just saw the picture. Your back is hunched over which it putting the hands too close to your body. In this setup I need you to look up to the sky. This will put the inward arc in your back and get the chest out a little more. This will allow the arms to come away from the body a ltitle more too. Then you look down with your eyes until you see the club and ball clearly not your toes. This should put you in perfect position.

      Arch,

You should. Just take it one step at a time and work on it as I suggest doing more practice swings than balls for a while. It is all about the movement. Get the movement … you get the ball.
