Hi Paul. It’s still a little chilly in. Chicago so I haven’t had a chance to play yet, but I’m committed to ending EVERY SWING in the correct position. A few years ago, I recall trying to do this, but when some of the results weren’t great, I reverted to old habits. It makes perfectly good sense that ending your swing in a variety of positions will yield varying results. The only logical way to create consistency is to swing exactly the same way every time, like a machine. Concentrating on the finish should also eliminate some of the anxiety of hitting the ball. Thanks for the simple but effective advice.

      Ron,

Very good. I hope you are doing practice swings indoors. This is the best way to practice.

You took the words from my mouth. You do a different swing you will get a different result.

      You need perfect consistent movement.

After returning from FLorida to PA, I could not wait to get from the “dry Dock” in my garage to the driving range to practice your tips which make a lot of sense to me and offer faster skill progress.
    Thanks,

      Kurt,

Good stuff. I like it when people are excited. Stay focused and even do practice swings at the range. Don’t just hit ball after ball. Should be a good year for you.

  3. Paul ,This is what I call the “photo finish”:hold it for a count of five and look at yourself in a Mirror or window pane .
I do this at home ,as I never go to a driving range .
On the golf course ,I also hold the finish position a few seconds after launching the ball .
When you do so, you know if you did a good swing or not !

      Raymond,

Holding the finish is great. In this tip I am just trying to get people to make the attempt to do the positions. Go to at least try to get to the photo finish. This is a way to do it.

  4. Paul, sometimes one can get lost in the forest of tips that you suggest. However, the finish position tip hit me like a ton of bricks. In practising whatever, I plan on ending every session with the 2 step finish position.
    Thanks for making golf sense.

      Ron,

You should not be getting lost in all of the tips. That is what the Dashboard is for. I would think you are not using it. You need to learn how and you will see the benefit of it:

      https://ignitiongolf.com/members/ watch the welcome video

Also, you should watch the 8 lessons I teach everyone. They are in order:

      https://ignitiongolf.com/start-here/

I like that you are going to stick to the follow through. You will be amazed at how well you will hit it just working on that (plus grip and set up).

    Paul,
Practice and playing ‘intentionally’ versus guessing. Can’t tellyou how many times the three (and sometimes many more when playing by myself and not a busy course) practice swings have put me back on track immediately. As I play better and better, it is the mastery of the basics that is so key. Not hard to remember with your instruction. Thanks. I will be showing you a scorecard at par or below sometime this year…I don’t go out with that expectation, just know that keeping on this intentional path will produce results.

      Kim,

Good stuff. The practice swings are vital. Just do what pros do and you will play like a pro.

  6. Paul, I believe (good ) repetition makes perfect .The “HOLD THE FINISH “is in this vein.If you do it in front of a Mirror ,both face on and at right angkes to see the “FINISH “position ,you can’t help than improving .When I get on the golf course which I do 2/3 times a week ,my swing is on “Automatic Pilot “,I just get in front of the ball and I swing :most of the times it’s a good swing and a good ball flight .
But the days I don’t play on the Golf course ,I make 200 swings in “Dry Runs ” in front of my window panes .
The most of my endeavor is to speed up the cluhead without disrupting my grooved in swing .
I see a lot of advertising on the “SWING ANALYSERS”:GOLF SPY X rates the ZEPP 2 as the best .There is also the GARMIN (I have GARMIN watches )that doesn’t require an IPAD or an I Phone to “read ” your swing (Their sustem is the “TRUSWING “)
I have serious doubts about the usefulness of this so called training aid ,I don’t see how it will improve my swing to know all the parameters it gives !
What’s your own truthful opinion ?

      Raymond,

I wish everyone would do this but I know they don’t because when they come to me for lessons their follow throughs are not perfect. Doesn’t take long. You just have to change the way you think.

I think I have a zepp 1. They are fun until you put them in the cupboard and never use them again.
