Paul, is there one “bad habit” that, generally, causes one to “cross the line?” Or are there several possible culprits?

  2. Could you comment on what ball flight is produced when one crosses the line or what actually happens in your downswing?

      Bruce,

You could be swinging it too much from the inside hitting pushes/push fades and duck hooks or you could come over the top hitting pulls, pull hook and pull slices. You really need to know which of these downswing you are doing. If your divots are severely left then you are coming over the top. If the divot it fairly straight or to the right you would be from the inside.

Most people cross the line by taking it back with the back hand and pushing it across the line at the top. Starting down some people (better players) would slide to allow the club to attack from the inside. Others would hit with their arms sending it over the top. This is how someone like Nancy Lopez could become a great player. Got to watch out for the snap hooks though.
