    Is there a correct amount of tilt and how much is it? Different with different clubs? Added tilt a couple of months ago and saw some real nice high shots. Better direction too. Known in my foursome for lower shots than everyone else. Not proud of that though.

    I have worked on this issue. I noticed if I do my swing very slowly and lead with the lower body,my elbow falls into position as you demonstrate on this tip. My problem is LEADING my upper body with my hip turn. It seems like they turn simultaneously. How do I get the little disconnect between upper and lower after my trigger?
    Thx
    ROY.

  4. Another excellent tip. On a different note, our national papers, here in Scotland,ran full page obituaries on Louise Suggs. In one of them there was a large photograph of her at the end of her swing. Everything you tell us was there I.e. Legs touching, back toe off the ground, body on a slight tilt and the club could not have been more parallel to hear ears.
    It looked near perfection. A very modern swing from a too often forgotten time.

      David,

      That’s great. I don’t make this stuff up. I have been teaching that position since my first lesson. If you just get that you have to do something right in your swing. This is why I want everyone to get that position. Unfortunately people just keep trying to hit the ball. If they would just think of ending in this position impact would be perfect. Glad you saw it. I love that position.

  5. Paul ,This question about “what does the right elbow “comes forward again and again .
    It has been covered in detail by BEN HOGAN in “THE MODERN FUNDAMENTALS OF GOLF” pages 97,98 and so on .
    I don’t see much of an issue here as I parallel my golf swing with “slinging a flat stone with my right hand on the surface of a lake ”
    The movement is quite similar ;
    If you want to refine further on the subject ,you should note to which point of the right hip the right elbow comes in front before the right forearm is unleashed like a whip .

      Raymond,

      This is too much right arm talk. I want your arms powerless. You use the body you will get the tilt and the arm will tuck perfectly.

    Hi Paul, I do the powerless arm, mindful of titlt & right elbow close/in front of the hip, I find I now hit toe shots (both driver & irons). It this now a timing release issue? Any tips please to correct this?? Many thanks, love your work.

      Gerry,

      Glad you like the tips. I appreciate it.

      If you are toeing you are either looking early or rolling onto your heels through impact. Toeing is usually a good thing because better players toe it while poorer players usually heel it.
