GREETINGS COACH THANKS Just trying to be funny about the beer but serious about the turn . I think it’s not so much playing bad, because, for the last three times my going out score I’m happy with but, I think you are probably right, it’s not keeping up with the positions and right thinking. Overall I am happy with the way my game is starting out. THANKS COACH>

  2. Paul ,A very thorough description of the “rollover”and how to acheive it.Thank you .I never ,never slice the ball ,though I don’t consciously “roll over “the wrists .
I am careful to keep my wrists the loosest possible
My shots are always straight with any club ,including the driver:occasionally there’s a slight fade at the end of the shot.
Taking to the “roll over ” does speed up the clubhead ,as I see well with the SSRTT ,so I now try to do it every time.
But doesn’t the “roll over ” deloft the clubface resulting in a lower flight of the ball?
Some Golf instructors say you should not “roll over “and you should keep the right wrist square to the target and under .Why so?

    • Raymond,

Yes, when you roll it you de-loft it. When you work on step 2 the body rotation you add loft getting the right trajectory.

They teach this because they don’t know what they are talking about or how to straighten it out after getting you to hook it.

    Paul,

In our normal swing, should we consciously roll our wrist over or should it happen automatically?

    Roy

    • Roy,

You are purposely rolling the drill until you rarely every slice it. Once you can do that, you switch your thought to coiling and uncoiling to straighten it out. By rolling it you are learning and mastering the release. So this should be happening without thinking about it if you have done it enough.

  5. Thanks for the rollover drill update. Very helpful.

Have trouble putting al together, but making progress

Sometimes I feel like I initiate the shoulder rotation before the hips, but again, making progress. Tough to put it altogether. Feel good, swing working pretty well and then brain kicks in and regress with TOO MUCH THINKING.

Someone told me about this “Tour Striker Smart Ball” Please comment

    • Bob,

TSSB is not needed. You just have to keep working on perfect positioning and do practice swings looking for the feedback in each position I teach. If your swing looks like mine you will hit it like me. I cannot do the positions better than you. So if I am doing them and you are doing them our swings would look the same.

The lessons I teach everyone are here: https://ignitiongolf.com/start-here/ in this exact order

The shoulders moving first in the downswing is you hitting with your arms. This sends you over the top. When you fire the lower body first it’s like hitting the accelerator on a car. It sends your upper body back angling you away from the target. This plus the fact your body is moving before the club creates the path from the inside.

2 Things Flatten the Plane: https://ignitiongolf.com/2-things-flatten-plane/

If you have trouble starting the lower body first take it in 2 steps. Get the tilt away from the target then work on turning.

Stay focused on the positions and how the legs and hips power the swing. You should also be doing this drill nightly:

Paul, in Ben Hogan’s book, he explains it as supination and pronation. Your explanation is a lot easier to understand.

    • Ken,

Glad you liked it. I didn’t really do a tip specific on this but glad you figured out what I was trying to say. It is so simple when you think about it.

  7. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED HELP. IT’S LIKE GETTING A SHOT IN THE ARM.

    MUCH APPRECIATED.

    I WILL GET THERE

    Hi Paul,
Nice tip…. explains the importance of the rollover and the sequence… first rollover, then body.
I also enjoyed your response to Bob. Be well, Don Sacramento, CA
