Great lesson, but difficult to hear with the planes overhead

      Sue,

Glad you liked it. I am going to re-do that one in the future. Just don’t have any long rough at the moment.

  2. Mr. Wilson,
I thought it was a great lesson. It was well worth any airplane noise.
I just signed up for your online tutorials. I must say that you are a great instructor.
I’ve pieced together a game that gets me in the low to mid 80’s. After watching several on your lessons I am amazed at all the things I was doing wrong. This program is worth far more than the cost of online membership.

    Thank you!

      William,

Thank you for the kind words and support. I truly appreciate it. Yes, there is a ton of content on this site. Glad you are starting to figure out what you need to work on. Don’t try to do too many things at once. Get one or two so you start to narrow down the list. It’s all about building a greats swing. A great swing hits great shots.

Paul, I notice your wrists are locked all the way through. Does a steep wrist hinge work too?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Paul,
Im assuming predictable ratios go out the window for this kind of shot? Does only the sand wedge work best for this kind of chipping technique with deep lies?
    Thanks!
    Larry

    • The chipping ratios are tough to predict coming out of such long rough, this would have to come from experience to know if it is going to work. The golf abll will have such little backspin coming out and therefore it will hit the green and take off running very fast. You want to use something with a lot of loft to negate the low backspin and it hitting and running…but if the flag is a long way away and therefore you can try different clubs because you now use the long running shot to your advantage. You can also pitch from these situations. Check this tip out:

    Hi Paul
I use very often your swing-split-screen in slowmo, and it helps me a lot.
I have a question when you start your downswing, your head go down a little bit until the release point.
Is it not a problem because all along your backswing, your head is at the same level, a little higher .
I don’t know if i have to make it also .
    Thanks for your answer

The head is only going down because when you hit a golf ball you are using your lower body, when the lower body is fired fast the upper body hangs back very slightly, like pressing the accelerator on a car, and this is why the upper body hangs back and the head goes down slightly. Work on using your lower body correctly and then using your lower body faster and your head will seem as if it goes down very slightly. Do not be working on actually changing levels with your head.

  6. Love this Paul!
I wonder if for many golfers the tendency to decelerate the club on a shot like this is more common for fear of getting it too far?

But like you said for the amateur golfer job one is to get the ball on the dance floor.

By the way the airplane sounds didn’t interfere with this video at all.

    Well done my friend!!!
