      Helen,

You need to be working on the follow through positions and making them and the feedback of each position more important that hitting the ball. If you are not doing them you are getting distracted. So do nightly practice swings and copy exactly how I am finishing. Just do it towards a mirror so you not only feel the feedback of each position but you see it as well. Hold the position and check it especially when you play. If you cannot do both at once do 1 position then master the other one. It is new. It is different but once you get it you will hit the ball amazingly well.

      Tommy,

Your thought with the arms is that in no way are you going to be pulling them down to hit the ball. Know that they are connected to your body. If you turn your body the arms will move. You get the power by having your wrists loose.

Make sure you have working on setting the top though first.

Now if you are working on fixing a slice then you would of course be feeling your arms as you learn the release and do the roll over drill. Once you eliminate slice spin you then stop thinking about the arms and turn them back off.

  4. Thanks Paul, I am a slicer, but it is showing positive signs since I have started your program. I will go to the watch the three ways now.
I have to tell you I am very impressed on how quickly you respond to our comments, It is very refreshing. I am getting much more clear information then I have over the years with all the private lessons. Keep up the good work.

  5. Hi Paul, thank you for your daily tips. I am following the Body Swing now for only 2 weeks but I am already seeing a differente. I am practicing the swing daily at home and if the weather is fine I am heading to the range at the weekends. For me the hip rotation does not feel comfortable yet but I am forcing myself to do it. The results are very good so far. Last Saturday I played 9 holes with 2 balls and thanks to the rotation and the follow through touch The legs and the head I cured already My slice and Ehen I played with the 2 balls they were only10 yards apart on almost every hole. For me already a great result. My question is regarding The powerless arms. I am not feeling it yet. It seems that I am still hitting it with my arms using power. And idea how I can avoid the Power? Thank you for your help. Vr Holger

      Holger,

Glad you are seeing improvement. I love hearing it. You listened to me and are doing practice swings. This really is the fastest way to get it.

The hips take time because you haven’t been doing it and you are not good at it yet. It gets easier as you keep repeating it.

For powerless arms you can just get the feeling of relaxing them and not trying to hit hard. I really want you getting the positions first and building a great looking golf swing. Once you get that, your focus moves on absolutely not hitting or helping the shot in any way with the arms. So take it in stages. Good job.

Paul, new to the program so I have a long way to go. I know I need to spend more time practicing the positions and the other drills. On the range, when I am going about half to two thirds speed, it feels good and I get good solid contact. When I try to speed things up to get some more distance not sure I am doing it right. My question, do I just try to turn my hips with no regard to how my arms are following or do I try to regulate the speed of the hip turn to match how fast my arms are accelerating due to the turning.

      John,

Glad to have you on board.

You need to watch the How To Gain Distance section in The Body Swing. This will show you exactly what you need to do to start working on more distance. This will be more thorough than me giving you a few tips to watch.

This was great timing cause it’s exactly what I’m working on at this time. But, yesterday media was talking about Tiger’s swing getting out of sync and his getting in from of the ball creating slice or fades too large. at address I my hips start to turn and then the club follows. Same thing at the top; my hips go and the club follows. This is new to me and I’m enjoying the results. Thanks!!

      Frank,

Glad you like the tip. It’s funny sometimes they seem timed with exactly what you are working on. Glad you are getting good results. Keep at it.

  8. Paul: Since I received you tip on the belt buckle going back 45 degrees, I focus on that in the backswing and then on turning the belt buckle to the target. It seems to work well. I touch the knees and follow through as you instruct.
BTW, your instruction to develop a correct swing is what I have been needing. (And I suspect it’s what most people need.)
    Really glad we got together.

  9. Hi Paul
Your teaching is excellent. The biomechanical feedback checkpoints that you describe are crucial in breaking down a very complex set of movements into manageable chunks for self-correction. In a very short time, I have noticed what I am doing wrong (and right).

Do you happen to have slow motion video, or series of freexe-frames that shows your entire swing and various body positions? This would be very helpful.

    Many thanks,
Please keep up the great work.

Paul , this is great. Can I just ask do you drive off your right heel in the downswing?

    Hi Paul:

This is exactly what I’ve started thinking about. The only way I can get my hips to start turning soon enough is if I say “rotate hips” to myself as I cock my wrists at the top. I’ve also tried thinking “rotate hips” much sooner, or the moment the club starts back. Is it better to have this swing thought as you stand over the ball? Sometimes I’ll do the hip rotation, but I can feel it’s too late, just like you showed in this video. I’m looking for anything that will get me to turn the hips soon enough, not necessarily fast.
