Great common sense instruction in this Video!(By THE way ,there was a Nice little rabbit hopping in THE background ,did you notice it ?).I train this way and it greatly improved my scoring ! This advice is being confirmed by what I saw yesterday Friday July 19 ,at the BRITISH OPEN at MUIRFIELD .A great number of puts were long lag puts for THE first put :invariably those great players left their first long put short ,THEn missed THE second one (Yes THE greens were fast and Pretty trick y .)
You should add in your instruction that you have by all means to run THE ball up to THE hole!
By THE way ,you in this Video ,and all THE best putters at MUIRFIELD (Except TIM CLARK who wields a horrible broomhandle-thanks GOD it ‘ going to be prohibited !) play with BLADE PUTTERS ,not mallett putters .Some of these putters are “center shafted “(I don’t like this kind of putter,I like to feel THE putter head CAN twist in your fingers when you don’ t hit THE sweet spot ).
If you haven’t already shown it ,could you demonstrate how to hold THE putter( in THE fingers or not ?) and have a loose or tight grip (There are different schools of thought on this point )

I don’t care what grip you use so long as the thumbs are down the flat surface of the grip. The grip should be very loose.

This is really a great tip and I’ll apply it. Can you provide a similar tip for the practicing of pitches and chips? Which to practice most?

I have one coming for pitching but it is nothing you can figure out. Hit pitches to the different distances. 10, 20, 30 all the way up then all the way back down.
Your golf genius is almost exceeded by your tact in dealing with

I agree practice putting from 30+ ft away is a good idea because it can help eliminate 3 putt greens. But what about the 10, 15, 20 up to 30 footers. I would think the goal on these would be get the ball within 2 ft of the hole, if not in, to also avoid 3 putt greens. Leaving a putt 4-5 ft short, regardless of how far away the 1st putt was can lead to 3 putts. I suppose since time is limited, you practice what gives the best chance of success, especially the 4-5 footers.
By the way, I broke 90 twice this year, first time ever thanks to your swing teaching. My putting is holding me back from getting into the low 80′s, but have been getting better because I am getting closer to the pin on my approach shots.

If you can get a 50 footer withing 3 feet you will be great from 10, 12, 15 feet. Remember, you are only going to make a certain percentage no matter how much you practice. The goal on these putts is to get them close or in by dying the ball in the hole as I suggested in last weeks tip. If your 50 footers are within 3 feet these others will end up very close to the hole.
Just stick to the long ones as I suggest and you will be great. Get these and you will break 90 without a problem.

I practise on this way since I saw a similar video from you (the one where the three golf balls went to the hole) and I can confirm is very effective.
Thanks so much for your comments from yesterday. Please let me explain a little bit more.
The mallet shaft is 35″ whilst the blade is 33″. No doubt that I feel more comfortable using the shorter shaft when I putt with my lower body completely stabilised. I think the right thing to say is that now I’m more accurate with the blade than the mallet especially in the 2 to 4 m department.
Plus, you were right, I was thinking so much about keeping your lower body still that I didn’t focused well in the target. I know this because today I practised with the mallet in the putting green and around 85% of the golf balls rolled to 2 ft or less to the pin from a distance of 40 to 50 ft. It could be better but the practise green I used is bumpy and has some weeds. On the weekend, I’ll use the mallet on a better practise green and I’ll let you know.

apart from your video tips on the various aspects of full swing, I think this one is a also a genuine “silver bullet”! I based my putting training on it for the past 6 months and results are pretty good. Practicing long putts gave me additional confidence : as my iron game is not yet sharp enough, when I hit greens, I usually land the ball pretty far from the flag. But, as I got more used to that kind of configuration, I know that I have a fair chance to be close to the hole on the first one.
Wish you could do some more tips on putting in the future.

Glad you liked it. Different people have different silver bullets. This one is certainly HUGE. People are generally lazy so they don’t do it. If you do, and you rarely 3 putt you have a 1 to 5 shot advantage over anyone you play. What a great feeling that is.
Our green has been ripped up. These tips will have to wait until I have a location that is better looking. Also, keep putting simple. You don’t need to make it difficult. Watch the tips I have posted. There are a few others but what I have on this site is basically what I teach. Nothing more.
