  1. Congragulations on your new site! You are the best teacher I have ever had over 30 years and i have had quite a few, I am now using your method to help my daughter who is becoming quite a good high school player in her area,,I am still fighting with turning my hands and arms “off” in the down swing,,,what is the best drill you have for working on this,,,best of luck,,Dan C.

    • Thank you very much for your kind words and support. I truly appreciate it.

Your daughter should pick it up very quickly. The younger they are the faster they get it. Plus, not having a ton or arms strength helps too!

If you keep hitting you have to do something different than what you are doing. I would be hitting shots at 3/4 of their normal distance. This means you are doing full swings but slowly. If you cannot even do this (which most people can’t) you will just keep whacking at the ball forever. So keep doing these easy shots until you can hit the ball solidly but 3/4. 7 iron = 100 yards not 150 yards and so on.

At the same time you are constantly working on the touch the legs position and touch the head in the follow through. Do this in a mirror or in practice swings around the house. You cannot do these positions without doing it right at impact. So you fix the follow through to fix impact. This is a different way to think with is getting you to not think about hitting the ball. Think about Point B – The Follow Through and the ball will be hit. Do these swings at home in a mirror making sure they are perfect. Getting this alone will have you hitting the ball better than you have in your life.

Do this for now. Then in the future we can figure out what is next.

  2. Congradulations Paul. Thank you for all you help. Having a problem with hitting the ball on more one the toe of the club about a 1/4 inch of center. If I line up more to hosel, I hit in the middle of the club. I know this is not the proper cure. Help.

    • Dennis,

Thank you for the support. I appreciate it.

If you are hitting the ball on the toe you are either:

      1. Rolling back on your heels through impact.

      2. Lifting up through impact.

Just check to see if the weight is on your heel through impact. The main cause is hitting too hard. When you do you will raise up a little through impact. To fix this slow down a little, loosen up the arms and work on this position:
