  1. Useful tip ,Paul ,not to lift out of position too early.
In some videos ,BEN HOGAN is shown at the start of the downswing with his right knee not only flexed ,as it should ,but also pointing to the left (tucked in ) .
Should this position of the right knee be copied or should you just let the right leg straight ,with the knee flexed ?

    • Raymond,

Your body is making a circular movement. The upper body is coiling going back then the lower is uncoiling. So it would make a circular motion down and through. I like the right knee almost straight going back as this creates the torque as you go back. Not sure if this answers the question.

Greetings Coach. For a long time I have been plagued with looking up early and I have used every fix I could think of. I would tell myself just don’t look up early, that should be easy, JUST DON’T DO IT. Well that did not work either. I took a drastic step, I remember you saying something like “the ball just gets in the way of a good swing” or something like that. I decided to try not looking at the at all but looking over top of the ball about 2 inches that way I would not see the ball. This all comes from doing your favorite drill over and over and over and over.It has worked so far, I concentrate on that spot throughout my swing. It is not infallible and I still look up once in a while but it has helped me greatly. The reason i am telling you this is because of the benefits of the FAVORITE DRILL .One last thing my swing finishes knees touching, left forarm 90 degrees. Thanks Coach

    • John,

At some point of the person trying it and not getting it I will take anything for them to get it. If you have to do it this way then do it.

Looking is a clue you are hitting too hard. The harder you hit, the more you look so I would suspect there are still a little arms in this swing. If you are not trying to hit anything, you are less likely to look. It’s either that or you are a really excitable person. To me it’s just another good shot. To you, it’s exciting to watch it. I get more excited about a miss hit that goes perfectly on line. This is the whole game.

P.S. I think you might or probably will frown on this move but I wanted to tell you because it came out of the favorite drill, but that it will not cause others to resort to such crazy things.

  4. Paul, these up in the air drills are the best series to date. I can work on so many different positions. Finally broke 80 today. Keep up the great work.

    • Keith,

Glad you like them. I just got thinking about all the different things you can do up in the air. Just made sense. This really is a great way to practice. Everyone is so conscious of hitting when really it is not about that at all.

Here is the “but”. Many times I sign in I come up as someone else so can not comment successfully. FYI. Is this a program bug??
