    derek

It looks as if you are swinging your arms only Paul in this drill whereas all your teachings are based on a downswing activated by the lower body. Is this true?.

I stopped playing for 2 weeks due to a cold .
Now I am coming over the top.
Any drill I can do to stop this terrible habit

  3. Paul ,I saw an old replay video of STEPHEN GALLAGHER at the 2014 BMW OPEN at WENTWORTH :he uses his wrists very much ,imparting enormous speed to the golf ball.
It seems (as another member of this community observes also-see above comment ) that you utilize very much your wrists in this video lesson.
Is it on purpose and should we emulate you ?
Since I play with my wrists utterly loose and my right thumb off the grip ,I have gained quite some distance with all clubs .So it works!
You are right as regards répétitions :since I take 100 swings per day I don’t play on the golf course ,with the club in the air ,my swing has gained speed, ease and fluidity .
I saw a video on the JAPANESE samouraïs perfecting their sabre (KATEKANA) movements :the Master Samouraî would have his disciples do 1000 (One thousand !) repetitions per day with the KATEKANA )
The sword movementt is quite similar to swinging wih a golf club!

    • Raymond,

It is a wrist drill. There are times when I want you working on arms. You master it then you turn them off and power the swing with your body.

I used to hit 1,000 for over 2 years and never got it back when I lost my swing. It is about perfect movement not just any movement.

  4. Sorry for the mistake I made above :the JAPANESE sword is a “KATANA ” not a “Katekana “.Its cutting edge is as sharp as a razor!

    Paul,

I tend to cast the club on my downswing. Is it possible to hold the lag angle and consciously roll your wrist, but still relax your arms.

  7. Paul,I remember you tôld me you didn’t want me to use an ” IMPACT BAG” ,but I don’t remember Why ?
THE purpose OF THE ” IMPACT BAG” is to show you if you contact THE Ball properly with THE club face : is it closed ?Is it open ?Is it square? there’s also an other drill ,where you swing at a soccer Ball ,and see f it takes off straight !

    • Raymond,

It’s name “impact bag” says it all. It gets you thinking of impact and trying to hit the ball. I don’t want you to hit anything.
